SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, is a federal program that provides monthly cash payments to people in need. SSI
is for people who are 65 or older, as well as for blind or disabled people of any age, including children. Check out the website for more information.
Department of Fair Employment and Housing-The DFEH is meant to protect Californians from employment, housing, and public accomodation discrimination, and hate violence. Persons represented by counsel, who wish to proceed directly to court on employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints, can now request a right-to-sue letter online.
California Employment Development Department (EDD)
Unemployment- The Unemployment Insurance Program provides weekly unemployment insurance payments for workers who lose their job through no fault of their own. The program is 100% funded by employers who pay taxes on wages paid to employees.
Disability Insurance- Disability Insurance (DI) provides partial wage replacement to eligible workers who are unable to work because of a disability.
Paid Family Leave- This program extends disability compensation to cover individuals who take time off of work to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, parent, or registered domestic partner, or to bond with a new child.

Food banks, Churches, and Clinics are all valuable non-profit, charitable organizations that distribute services aiming to help the needy. These can all be invaluable resources for you in a time of struggle. Ultimately, their existence helps many people survive in trying times.

- Angel Food Ministries- Angel Food Ministries provides relief throughout the United States. They are a non-profit that provide food relief and financial support to communities

across the country. They sell units of food at $30 (the units each have an average retail value of $60--that's a $30 savings). Each unit is capable of feeding a family of 4 for a week. They have great food selections and a wide variety. - St. Francis Center- St. Francis Center serves homeless and near-homeless families as well as individuals in the underserved neighborhoods of downtown Los Angeles. They are a primary source of food and nutrition for people who are hungry as well as one of few social service agencies of their type in the Los Angeles area.
- Venice Family Clinic- The Venice Family Clinic's mission is to
provide free quality healthcare to those in need. The Clinic provides comprehensive primary health care, specialty care,
dental care, mental health services, health education and child development services, as well as public insurance enrollment to more than 24,400 patients. Prescription medicines are also provided at no charge. Salvation Army-The Salvation Army, an international mo
vement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its dual mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs. A great resource for those in need. - One Voice- One Voice is a non profit organization that aims to help families living at poverty level within the Los Angeles community. Their programs range from providing emergency relief services to families in immediate crises to a scholars program designed to better the quality of people’s lives.
- Union Rescue Mission- Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving men, women and children experiencing homelessness. Established in 1891, URM is one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles.
- World Harvest Los Angeles Foodbank- Los Angeles Area Food Bank.
- Westside Food Bank- Westside Food Bank’s mission is to distribute as much food as possible to local agencies with food assistance programs and to reduce food waste on the

Westside of Los Angeles County. As the food bank warehouse for the Westside since 1981, they annually distribute nearly 4 million pounds of food to the food assistance programs of 65 Westside social service agencies.
